			<description><![CDATA[<p><img src='http://www.bachmanhebble.com/include/storage/thumb.php?edgeFade=4&amp;imgName=default-images/v3-lily.jpg&amp;imgWidth=72&amp;imgWidth=120' align='left' hspace='8'>Forrest Derwood Bishop, Jr., 83, of Battle Creek, passed away Sunday, May 12, 2013 at Bickford Cottage in Battle Creek. He was born March 26, 1930 in Battle Creek, the son of Forrest Derwood and Effie (Avery) Bishop, Sr. He married the late Gwendolynn Taylor on September 5, 1948. Forrest retired as a Sargent from the Battle Creek Police Department in 1981 after 30 plus years of service. He was a member of the Fraternal Order of the Police, Bedford Masonic Temple for 40 years, and the Free and Accepted Masons Lodge #207. Forrest enjoyed painting, wood working, and his corvette. 
He is survived by his daughter, Rose Ann (Roger) Culpepper; granddaughter, Shannon (Garry) Backus; grandson, Derek (Billie Jo) Durkee; and 3 great grandchildren.
He was preceded in death by his parents; wife, Gwendolynn; daughter, Kathleen (Jim) Speers; and granddaughter, Krista Durkee.
Visitation will be held Wednesday from 10:00-11:00 AM at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service with the Funeral service to follow at 11:00 AM. Burial will be at the Memorial Park Cemetery in Battle Creek. Memorial tributes may be made to the American Cancer Society.</p>]]></description>

Mary was born May 6, 1946 in Battle Creek, to Benjamin and Dorothy (Horn) Bookey and has been a lifelong resident.  Mary was a 1964 graduate of Battle Creek Central High School.  She had been employed by Service to Senior Citizens, Gallagher Laundry, Manfilters, and retired in 2007 from Nippondenso.  Mary had been a member of the Moose Lodge and the Friday night Three person League at Nottke’s Bowl.  She enjoyed garage sales, flea markets, and her Chihuahua's.  Mary was survived by her husband, Peter Dollaway, daughters, Debra (Doug) Grigsby and Brenda (Thomas) Jones, sons, Peter (Brenda) Dollaway and Troy (Tammy) Dollaway, all of Battle Creek, seven grandchildren and three great grandchildren, a sister, Sharon (Mike) Schwanz, of Ft. Wayne, IN.  She was preceded in death by her parents and an infant brother, Benjamin Bookey.  Funeral services were held Saturday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.</p>]]></description>

Smith, age 76, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday May 8, 2013 at the Heartland Health Center, following a brief illness.  Lester was born July 11, 1936 in West Memphis, Arkansas to Wardell and Pearlina  Smith, and came to Battle Creek as a child, with his family.  Lester had been employed by the Eaton Manufacturing Company and the United Steel and Wire Co.  He enjoyed hunting and fishing and especially spending time with his family.  Lester is survived by his sons, Lester (Elnora ) Smith of Maud, Texas, Dana (Constance) Nicholson of Lansing, daughters, Teresa (Eddie) Mohamed of San Diego, California, Pamela (Ralph) Traylor of Battle Creek, and Shayne (Dwayne) McKnight of Atlanta, Georgia, Fourteen Grandchildren, Three Great Grandchildren and four Great Great Grandchildren, and a brother Paul (Ernestine) Smith of Detroit.  Lester was preceded in death by his parents, a sisters, Zolina Smith and Lula Smith, brothers, Wardell Smith and Gregory Smith.  The family will receive from at 10:00 AM Wednesday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.  Funeral services will follow at 11:00 AM Wednesday at the funeral home. 			<description><![CDATA[<p><img src='http://www.bachmanhebble.com/include/storage/thumb.php?edgeFade=4&amp;imgName=40756/DeathRecordStub/1581838/Justin_Green_Obit_Photo.jpg&amp;imgWidth=72&amp;imgWidth=120' align='left' hspace='8'>It is with tremendous sadness that the family of Justin Taylor Green age 23 announces the passing of our dear son, brother, brother-in-law, grandson, cousin, and friend on Monday, May 6, 2013 at Bronson Methodist Hospital in Kalamazoo, MI. Justin’s passing was a result of a motor vehicle accident on Saturday, May 4, 2013.
  	He was born November 5, 1989 in Battle Creek, MI the son of Jeffery Robert Green and Pamela Lynne (Taylor) Green. 
Justin had worked since he was a junior in High School at the Apple Core Café, as a kitchen manager for the past 7 years. He has also worked along-side his father in construction business of the Jeffery Green Builders.
   	Justin graduated from Gull Lake High School in 2008 and attended Kalamazoo Valley Community College and had additional culinary training.
Justin lived and worked his entire life in Battle Creek area. He loved music, he taught himself how to play the drums, loved playing the guitar, and he wrote some of his own music. He was an enthusiastic disc golfer. He was a carpenter's apprentice with his father while managing the restaurant. He was very creative and helpful to others. 

Justin is survived by his father: Jeffery Robert Green and Evelyn "Evie" Barrus of Richland, MI; his mother: Pamela Lynne Green of Battle Creek, MI; his sister: Jamie L. & Matt Jackson of Kalamazoo, MI; two step brothers: Andrew and Austin Barrus both of Richland, MI; paternal grandmother: Marjorie Green of Port Huron, MI; maternal grandparents: Jack E. & Judy Taylor of McCormick, South Carolina. He was preceded in death by his grandfather: Robert Green. 
       Visitation will be held at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service on Friday, May 10, 2013 where the family will be present from 5:00 PM - 8:00 PM. Funeral services commemorating the life of Justin Green will be held Saturday, May 11, 2013 at 11:00 AM at the Gull Lake Area Community Church, 9292 East CD Avenue, Richland, MI with Pastor Todd TerAvest and Pastor Scott Anderson officiating. Cremation has been conducted. Memorial tributes may be made to: Justin Taylor Green Memorial fund, where the checks may be written to Jeffery Robert Green, envelopes available at the funeral home. Being the giving person Justin was, he donated his organs through Gift of Life and is currently responsible for having a very large impact on five people and their families lives. Alice was a member of the United Methodist Church, The Cape Elizabeth Grange and the Order of the Eastern Star.  Alice is survived by a daughter, Sharon (Lonnie) Mather of Marshall, sons, Wayne (Sue) Brovont of Bellevue and David (Gloria) Brovont of Ft. Worth, Texas, eight grandchildren and many great grandchildren.</p>]]></description>

Hughes, age 100, of Battle Creek, died Wednesday April 24, 2013 at the East Ave Adult Foster Care.  Dale was born in Battle Creek on April 6, 1913 to Ralph and Larene (Pike) Hughes, and has lived in the area all of his life.  He attended Battle Creek Central High School and had owned and operated the D&H Leather Shop in Lakeview for many years as well as working at several other jobs in the area.  Dale enjoyed staying up with current events and was an avid television news watcher.  He is survived by his daughters, Kay Whitmill of Eugene, Oregon, Tana (Willie) Holman of Silver Springs, Florida, and Sally Birman of Battle Creek, six grandchildren, 8 great grandchildren, and a brother, Ralph P. Hughes, of Flushing, Michigan.  Dale was preceded in death by his wife, Virginia (Knapper) Hughes in 1997 and a brother, Norwood Hughes. Graveside services will be held 1:00PM Tuesday at Bedford Cemetery.  Memorials may be given to the Good Samaritan Hospice.  Arrangements are by the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service. Hickey, age 63, of Battle Creek, died Tuesday April 23, 2013 at the Veterans Administration Medical Center, Battle Creek after a short battle with cancer.  Larry was born July 26, 1949 in Fort Smith, Arkansas to Weldon Hickey and Margaret (Canon) Hickey- Pontius, and came to Battle Creek in 1970.  Larry attended school in Muskegon and Joined the US Marine Corp in 1966 and spent 14 months in combat in Viet Nam.  Larry was employed for 34 years by Waste Management of Michigan.  Larry enjoyed fishing, playing pool, and spending time with his family and friends.  Larry had remodeled a home in Glendale, AZ and was planning on making it his permanent home.  He is survived by his mother, Margaret L. Pontius of Muskegon, a son, Larry Steven (Harmony) Hickey of Glendale, AZ, step brother, Patrick (Laura) Pontius, of Muskegon, his former wife, Sharon Hickey-White and longtime friend, Bill Castello of Battle Creek.  Larry was preceded in death by his father, Weldon Hickey in 1974.  The family will receive friends at 11:00 AM Thursday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.  Funeral services will be held at 12:00 Noon Thursday at the funeral home.  Interment with honors will follow at Fort Custer National Cemetery. Madge was born July 3, 1922 in Carney, Michigan to Charles E. and Flossie V. (Shore) LaCount.  Madge was a 1939 graduate of Harris High School, in Harris MI, and attended Menominee County Normal College graduating in 1941. She married Oren A. Pierce on August 30, 1943 and came to Battle Creek in 1949.  Madge taught elementary school for five years in Menominee and Delta Counties.  She then owned and operated Pierce’s Nursery and White Birch Center from 1956 until 1998—selling Christmas trees and other nursery stock nation wide.  Madge was a member of the Battle Creek Seventh – Day Adventist Tabernacle and was a substitute elementary school teacher for the Battle Creek Academy from 1964 to 1973. She worked as a clerk in the Natures Pantry of the Tabernacle Book Store, and had worked in the Children’s Division of Sabbath Schools. Her children, their cousins, and neighbors also remember fondly working with Madge in the nursery. Madge enjoyed knitting, sewing, oil painting, traveling, bird watching and gardening with her husband.  Madge is survived by her daughter, Sally Anne Pierce and her husband James Miner of Lansing, sons, Richard O. and Joan Pierce of Banning, California, and Dr. Edward L. and Marie Pierce of Sydney, Montana, grandchildren, James, Christy, Timothy and Jennifer Potterton and Caitlin Miner, 6 great grandchildren, and a brother, Charles K. LaCount of Carney, Michigan.  Madge was preceded in death by her husband Oren, in 1997.  The family will receive friends from 2:00PM to 5:00PM Saturday at the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service, 223 N. Bedford Rd.  Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Monday at the Oak Hill Cemetery Chapel.  Memorials may be given to the Battle Creek Academy Library Fund or the Leila Arboretum.</p>]]></description>
