Bertha L. Flenorl, 81, of Battle Creek went home to be with the Lord January 7, 2020 after a long illness. Bertha was born June 30, 1938 in Birmingham, Alabama the daughter of Robert and Classie Crape. She moved to Battle Creek as a child. Bertha was employed with the Battle Creek VA Medical Center for a number of years and was also a private nurse and licensed Cosmetologist. Bertha loved to cook, bake, sew, and spend time with her family.
She is survived by her daughter, Tammi Hollis-Harrell of Battle Creek; sons, Robert Anthony Hollis of Battle Creek and Dirail Flenorl of Freeport, Illinois; 10 Grandchildren; 6 Great Grandchildren; and a host of family and friends.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Classie Crape; son, Earnest David Hollis Flenorl; son-in-law, Felton Harrell; sisters, Estella Hickman, Roberta Roberson-Cartwright, and Beulah Richardson; brothers, Willie Whittaker, Robert C. “Man” Crape, Jr.; brother-in-law, Cleveland Hickman, Sr.; and her niece, Sandra Kay Whittaker-Brown.
Visitation will be held at Maranatha Original Church of God on Monday, January 13th from 11:00 AM to 12:00 PM with a memorial service to immediately follow at 12:00 PM with Pastor Geraldine T. Richardson officiating.
