Our Heritage

Qualities that make a house a home.

“Friendly and welcoming. ”  “Comforting… lit from within with warmth. ”  “Lovely and quieting to the spirit. ” These are just a few of the phrases families have used to describe the Bachman Hebble Funeral Service located northwest of downtown Battle Creek at 223 North Bedford Road. A building that houses a beautifully appointed chapel with comfortable permanent pew seating.  A chapel which can be as intimate for several family members or as spacious for larger gatherings. Bachman Hebble is located in a tree-shaded neighborhood with ample parking and convenient, easy-access to the building. Our facilities are modern and immaculate and are prepared to serve your family and the community when the occasion presents itself.

Whether you are making pre-need or at-need arrangements, you should feel comfortable that your funeral director is working in your best interest, and truly cares about you and your family. Each member of our staff is empowered to do whatever it takes to serve your family with integrity, compassion, grace and the utmost dignity. Our staff are caring and knowledgeable men and women who respect your right to choose from a wide variety of services and products. The staff of Bachman Hebble is always willing and able to share their years of experience when it comes to creative ideas and suggestions you may ask for.

Bachman Hebble Funeral Service has been family owned for over 100 years, founded by Andrew C. Hebble in January of 1909 and continuing with a commitment for caring even to today. We have earned the highest award possible in funeral service…the trust of the community. Over the years, our location has changed from downtown Battle Creek to the Urbandale area of greater Battle Creek. One thing that has not changed is our commitment to provide excellence in funeral service.

The “funeral” is a time of sharing and remembering. The funeral ceremony is the way our society provides for the death of one of its members. It is an occasion for showing our affection and respect, for expressing our sympathy and concern, and for participating in the experience of mutual sorrow. Your presence at the funeral, in the company of other friends and neighbors, contributes to a fellowship of support extended to the family and relatives. The family appreciates your presence, more than words could express. By being there, you have communicated that you care. This gesture speaks significantly about the impact of the life we commemorate.

When you deal with our funeral home you can be assured that your wishes will be carried out just as you request, and that great attention will be paid to every detail, no matter how small. After all, we only have one chance to conduct a service properly. As we grow our business and look ahead our pledge will remain the same to continue providing excellence in funeral service and supporting our community.
